The Subgroups

There are a number of subgroups which have devolved from the committee focusing on varying elements of the Moseley in Bloom cause. The sub groups focus on these aspects and plan what needs to be done all year round.

Grant applications
Application and completion process for grant applications. Identifying other funding opportunities that Moseley in Bloom could apply for.
Floral Displays
Encouraging businesses to sponsor and/or contribute towards floral displays. This is a significant piece of work for Moseley in Bloom as this is one of the main focal point within the community. Liaising with and meeting with Birmingham City Parks & Nurseries to organise the annual floral displays.
Business Sponsorship
Establishing relationships with Moseley businesses and encouraging financial support of Moseley in Bloom projects. Creating positive relationships with new businesses.
Plant Markets
The Plants market takes place on selected months for the Moseley Farmers Market. This raises local awareness of the Moseley in Bloom campaign. Sourcing plants and arranging volunteers for the stall. Labelling, pricing etc. We also hold a number of pop up plant sales throughout the year.
Open Gardens
The Open Gardens event is the biggest fund raising event in the calendar and has a high profile in the wider community. This is great for publicity. Part of the role is to persuade residents to open their gardens, checking suitability of gardens, setting dates and organising “routes”. Working with the volunteer’s coordination team is essential to ensure coverage.
Trees Please
Liaison with Birmingham City Council Parks to ensure the programme of street tree planting. Publicise front garden tree planting programme.
Schools Project
Visits schools and encouraging participation in the Brittan in Bloom campaign, providing support where necessary.
Eco/Recycling
Represents Moseley in Bloom on the SUSMO committee as well as liaising with the council and local councillors. Also look for new and innovative ideas to encourage recycling in the community, both with residents and local businesses.
PR/Marketing
This is another huge area for Moseley in Bloom and touches all sub groups. This group Manages Public Relations for Moseley in Bloom which includes (and not limited to) writing newsletters, managing relationships with local media, photography, portfolio write ups and ensuring all communications keep to the Moseley in Bloom brand.
Website and Social Media
Updating website with forthcoming events and news. Look for other ways of adapting website and for ways to increase visitors to website. Using social media to raise the profile of MiB and make its activities accessible and visible.
Volunteer Coordination
This is one of the most important aspects for Moseley in Bloom . This team looks to encourage new people to volunteer from the wide and diverse community of Moseley to participate in the many projects that take place.
Regeneration Group
Represent Moseley in Bloom on the Regeneration group.
