In 2018 MOSELEY in BLOOM launched a new initiative to develop partnerships with local primary schools. We want to encourage pupils, teachers, parents and parent-governors to work together to create, transform and sustain ‘greening’ projects on your school sites.
We are looking to fund further projects for the 2019-20 academic year, that will inspire and support pupils to develop gardening skills, and encourage them to understand their role in the quality and sustainability of their environment.
So, is there some unloved patch of ground that you could bring into fruit or flower? Can you make some raised beds to fill with great colours and scents? Are there corners of schoolyard where birds can bathe and butterflies can alight?
MOSELEY in BLOOM is encouraging you to imagine a project, and we want to help you bring it to life. We are inviting all primary schools with a B13 postcode to submit an application for up to £500 so that your thriving green space idea becomes a reality. Schools that have previously received a grant from MiB can apply again.
How we can help
First let’s encourage you to register your school with the Royal Horticultural Society schools campaign. Information can be found at: https://schoolgardening.rhs.org.uk
We also encourage you to visit local public gardens and nature sites, to help pupils understand the value of green spaces for the community and environment, and to fire their imaginations!
You can share interests and exchange ideas with friends and volunteers on our Friends of Moseley in Bloom Facebook page
