Moseley in Bloom’s Call to Arms – May Volunteering Activities

mib2009_meteoricmakeover04Moseley in Bloom is calling you to arms!

There is plenty to do over the coming months and we want to make sure that Moseley shines out from the crowd with the sizzling summer that is predicted by ensuring there is a spectacular display.

Details of this months activities are below – please do come and join us as your help and support are highly valued!

Saturday

22nd May

Farmers MarketOn Saturday 22nd May we are holding our Farmers Market Stall. We still need volunteers to cover some of the shifts.

If you can help with one of these shifts – please email contact Anne Roxburgh on pebbles@dragonslair73.wanadoo.co.uk.

Saturday & Sunday

22nd May & 23rd May

Community Gardening / Meteor FordOn Saturday and Sunday 22nd and 23rd May we are carrying out our Community Gardening Weekend.

We will be kicking off at 10.00am meeting at the Meteoric Makeover site (the former Bristol Street Motors site on St. Marys Row) on both days. We will be tidying and preparing various parts of Moseley – including the Meteor Ford Site ready for planting up in early June and showcasing a dazzling display for the summer!

From 13.00 we will be carrying on for a couple of hours tidying up some of the key sites when we will finish at approximately 16.00 and re-convene at the Meteoric Makeover site.

From there you are welcome to join me (and many others I am sure) to have a well earned drink in one of the local pubs (TBC)…

Please respond to info@moseleyinbloom.org.uk if you are interested.

Saturday

29th May

St Anne’s Peace GardenIn 2008, Revd. Rosemary Donavan and a team of helpers transformed a piece of waste land behind St. Anne’s Church into a quiet meditative space for the people of Moseley. Revd. Rosemary Donovan had visited several peace gardens and researched into the global peace pole project. The theme appeals to people from a variety of religious or spiritual backgrounds so she planned the enterprise as a Church and community project.

Rosemary is looking to do a spring clean on Saturday 29th May from 10.00am until 12.30pm. Any volunteers would be most welcome.

The Important bit…

Please do come prepared on the day. Whilst we hope that summer is on the way, do make sure you bring some warm clothes with you and a waterproof coat. Also bring some suitable footwear (boots are ideal).

For those of you who will be coming for a drink after – feel free to bring a spare set of clothes to change into…

If you have gardening gloves and your own equipment such as trowels, forks and other weeding instruments, please do bring them (labelled with your name). If you don’t have any in your possession then don’t worry – we have spare gloves and some spare tools that you can use.

If you are interested in joinging us, please contact us via email on info@moseleyinbloom.org.uk or submit your details on the Volunteers page!
