Lloyds TSB Autolease & Moseley in Bloom Undertake Park Challenge

On Thursday 1st May, members of Lloyds TSB Autolease took the challenge to revamp the entrance at Moseley Park as part of their Time2Care scheme – an initiative which allows employees of Lloyds TSB Autolease to spend a day working in the community. Their challenge was to create a fitting entrance to the park, from the existing disused toilet, sapling trees, breeze block wall & concrete base with the help of local Garden Designer Glenn Fraser.

The entrance was planted as part of the Moseley in Bloom’s commitment to sustainable planting. Moseley is entering Britain in Bloom as regional finalists in the urban community category, but before any planting could take place, there was some serious sledge hammer action and plenty of brick removal to be done.

Claire Woolaston, Product Executive said, “The initial plan was to clear the site, then paint and erect some trellis before planting the area. After one skip of bricks and rubble, it became clear it was a much larger job than first imagined”.

That’s where the Autolease team, along with the park rangers from Moseley in Bloom, and local garden designer Glenn Fraser rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in. The team stepped up to the challenge and after two skips of rubbish, several painted trellis, and lots of wheel barrowing, they managed to clear the site ready for planting.

Reflecting on their hard work, Claire Woolaston commented, “It was a very satisfying day that was enjoyed by all with plenty of teamwork, exceeded expectations and aching muscles”.
