Over 35 volunteers from Lloyds Banking Group descended into Moseley on Friday 16th May to support Moseley in bloom in their 10th year of celebrations.

The army of Lloyds Banking Group volunteers – who came far and wide (from as far north as Scotland all the way known to Kent) gave their time as part of the Give and Gain Day event and donated over 180 hours of their time.

Managed by Business in the Community, Give & Gain Day is the UK’s only national day of employee volunteering, which Lloyds Banking Group are proud sponsors of. It provides the perfect opportunity for each colleague to make a real difference on the issues that matter to schools, local charities and community groups across the UK.

In 2013, Lloyds Banking Group supported Give & Gain Day with over 4500 volunteers on just one single day!

The volunteers split into three groups and tackled 3 different areas in Moseley:

  • One Group went to Wilsons Lodge in Augusta Road and worked with the residents create a garden in which they can relax. A wild flower meadow was also created.
  • The second group tackled the entrance of Moseley Park & Pool ready to plant up later this year. Plenty of weeds and foliage were removed from the area – watch this space!
  • The final Group went armed around the streets of Moseley maintaining the areas we all forget – such as tree bases, clearing Moseley Village Green from weeds, tidying the Car Park and weeding the oak tree bed outside Boots Pharmacy.

Carol Miller – Chair of Moseley in Bloom said “It was fantastic to have Lloyds Banking Group come and volunteer their time with us. They have helped us to tackle so many areas in one go and really has helped to make a difference to the community”.

If you want to get involved in volunteering, please head over to our volunteers section and sign up for more information.
