It’s certainly now the busiest part of the season and again Moseley in Bloom is calling you to arms!
The sun is shining and hopefully today marks the start of our (dare I say it!) barbeque summer! You will probably have noticed that the floral displays are now up around the village and it wont be long before your visual senses are stimulated for the season…
Please see the summary below of upcoming activities in June and where we need your help and also find out how you can get your hands on a free pair of Open Gardens 2010 tickets!
Saturday & Sunday
5th & 6th June
Meteoric Makeover 2010
Well the compost has been mixed and the barrels re-filled! You may have noticed that most of the barrels have been planted up already getting an earlier start than last year.
What remains now is clearing the bed on Wake Green Road from the spring display ready for it to be planted up!
If you didn’t already know – many of this year’s plants have been selected as a result of successful harvesting of the runner beans in 2009 at the site – we have more runner beans this year, along with climbing courgettes and even cucumbers to name a few!
Come and join us on the mornings of Saturday and Sunday at the Meteor Ford site, St Mary’s Row, Moseley from 10.00am each day!
If you are interested in participating, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or contact me (Adam Styler) on 07961 434 896.
Let’s grow on last year’s success and feed Moseley!
Saturday & Sunday
19th & 20th June
Open Gardens Weekend 2010
This is the Big one and the most anticipated event in our calendar!
With around 30 gardens this year – and high hopes of beating last year’s record number of visitors we need your help to man ticket stands, plant stalls and help man the refreshments for those parched from walking all over Moseley!
In all we need approximately 20 volunteers for Saturday and again another 20 volunteers for Sunday. Each shift is only 2 ½ hours!
If you can help, please email email@example.com or contact me (Adam Styler) on 07961 434 869.
All helpers receive a complimentary ticket to view the gardens too – so now is your chance to make the most of this volunteering opportunity!
This event is the single biggest fundraiser for Moseley in Bloom with the proceeds going towards to floral display in the village.
Farmers Market Stall
On Saturday 26th June we are holding our Farmers Market Stall. We still need volunteers to cover some of the shifts.
If you can help with one of these shifts – please email contact Anne Roxburgh on firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Important bit…
Please do come prepared on the days. Whilst we hope that the summer is upon us, do make sure you bring some warm clothes with you and a waterproof coat. Also bring some suitable footwear (boots are ideal) if you are gardening.
If you have gardening gloves and your own equipment such as trowels, forks and other weeding instruments, please do bring them (labelled with your name). If you don’t have any in your possession then don’t worry – we have spare gloves and some spare tools that you can use.
We hope you can join us on these days. If you know of friends, family or even colleagues that may be interested, please feel free to invite them along.
Look out for next month’s activities which include the pre-judging preparations!
Looking forward to seeing you all soon.
